Gregory, Harris named to Region 2 all-star team

SoVaNow.com / March 06, 2019
Bluestone’s Chris Gregory was selected to the Region 2 basketball first team last week.

Gregory, a senior, was instrumental in helping the Barons claim the James River District regular season co-championship with a record of 15-1 and an overall record of 17-7. He was also a JRD first-team basketball selection.

Gregory led the Barons with 20 points in the team’s 64-24 Region 2A quarterfinal win over Maggie Walker Governors School. He posted 10 points in the 63-55 region semifinal loss to Greensville County High School to end the Barons season.

Gregory also became a member of the Barons’ 1000 Point Club when he scored his 1000th point in a 44-38 regular season home win over Nottoway.

Michael Harris, who plays at the forward and center positions for the Barons, also earned Region 2 honors as a second team selection.

Harris had six points in the MWGS region win but led the Barons in the Greensville loss with 15 points — ten points coming in the fourth period as Bluestone tried to rally for the win and a trip to the VHSL state championship tournament. Harris is a member of the Barons varsity baseball team, plays football and is a varsity track team member.
