The Halifax County Coach Pitch all-stars are 1-1 in early action at the state tournament at the Day Complex.

Halifax fell in Saturday night action to a strong Madison Heights squad, 8-2. Madison Heights has a very good defensive team. The locals hit the ball hard, but Madison Heights made the plays needed to win.

Rashad Garner delivered a 3-for-3 outing and produced two RBI in the major offensive highlight for the local all-stars.

Earlier, Halifax sailed by Buckingham, 14-4, in opening action Friday. Halifax had a very strong offensive night, with 17 hits. The offensive team production was spread effectively through the lineup.

Garner again led the way, with a 3-for-3 outing with three RBI.

Camden Saunders went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Conner Spell had an inside the park home run in the third inning.

Saunders was presented a game ball for the significant play.
