Halifax County Dixie Boys enjoy 2-0 start in tournament

SoVaNow.com / July 27, 2017

The Halifax County Dixie Boys enjoyed a 2-0 start to state tournament action near Rocky Mount.

The local Dixie 14U all-stars continued to play well in earlier action.

Strong pitching led the Dixie boys 14U team to a solid 10-3 victory against Nelson County Sunday. Halifax used three pitchers, including Leo Noblin, Jackson Dunavant, and Shea Carey. The trio only allowed three hits combined, 12 strike outs, with three walks.

Offensively, Shea Carey, Leo Noblin, Colby Hancock, Shabazz Buster and Colton Allen led the team with two hits each.

Carey smashed a two-run home run in the second inning, helping Halifax to score nine of its 10 runs.

Halifax faced Charlotte County Monday night at 8:00 pm
