Halifax girls noteworthy at recent track meet

The HCHS girls’ track team competed in the Friends of Coal Gazette Relays on May 1 and 2. The team placed third out of 22 teams. Tanisha Evans received the award for the “Female High Point Scorer” in the meet.

Halifax had several noteworthy efforts, as six Comets placed in the meet.

Stacey Hamlett took first in the 100 meter dash (12.98). Ashley Logan placed third in the 100 meter dash (13.14).

Tanisha Evans was first in the 200-meter dash in 26.25. Evans was also second in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.62 and second in the long jump in 16’03”.

Andrea Wright placed fifth in the high jump with an effort of five feet, and Brittany Foster was fourth in the long jump in 15’06”. Aaron Moreno-Hodge was fourth in the discus in 105’7.

HCHS also placed in two relays: the 4x100 m relay - Stacey Hamlett, Mikayla Boyd, Brittany Foster, Tanisha Evans - 2nd (51.42); the 4x200 m relay - Tyiesha Pannell, Stacey Hamlett, Mikayla Boyd, Brittany Foster - 2nd (1:50.52).
