Halifax warms up for state with invitational title

The Halifax County Dixie Youth minors all-stars warmed up for state play this weekend.

Halifax defeated South Hill, 8-3, to claim the minor league title in the invitational tournament held at the Day Complex over the weekend.

Halifax got past South Hill 11-10 and also defeated Cluster Springs 10-2 on Sunday before meeting South Hill again in the title game.

Sunday, Halifax scored two runs in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth to collect the Invitational tournament.

Jack Morgan had three hits, including a triple and a double, and Aaron Crutchfield slapped a pair of hits for the local all-stars.

Tate Bowen, Paul Irby, Carter Thompson and Kaleb Newton supplied hits for Halifax.
