HC Crew splits Saturday

SoVaNow.com / July 10, 2017
The Halifax County Crew split two games Saturday in AAA Minors action at the Day Complex.

The Crew defeated Cluster Springs, 12-2, in its second game.

Crew got a strong pitching effort from Gabe Cash, who had three strikeouts and provided a single.

Crew had five players with multiple hits. That group included Ian Davis, with a triple and a double. Gavin Vicks added a couple of singles.

Defensively, Aiden Powell provided leadership. He had a highlight stop in the gap to close out an inning at second base. Mason Rush closed out on the mound, facing five batters and striking out three.

The Crew fell 14-1 in its opener to South Hill.

The local team struggled in the first inning and could not overcome a four-run start by South Hill.

Daughtry Reaves pitched for the Crew, striking out three.
