HCHS boys soccer fall in opener
SoVaNow.com / March 14, 2013The Comets lost to Magna Vista 1-0 Tuesday night at Smith River Sports Complex.
It was 0-0 for 74 minutes with both teams playing even with shots and goalie saves asa well as time of possession.
“We had pushed forward to try and score, turned the ball over at midfield and they immediately countered. Keeper Jason Dennis came out to stop the play and MV chipped the ball over and in to the goal for a 1-0 lead to finish the game,” said coach Frank Shealy.
HCHS had six shots on goal and so did MV.
Magna Vista had the edge in corner shots, 5-1.
“There were several red cards given out in the match and we played much of the game with an extra player. Playing 10 vs 9, we should have had the edge but our over-anxious efforts to score backfired and that one mistake cost us the game,” said Shealy.
