Lion boys quiets PC 3-0

The Halifax County Middle School boys soccer team took a 2-0 lead to the half defeating Junior Piedmont District opponent Patrick County 3-0 last week to continue unbeaten on the year.

This match was certainly more challenging than the Lions’ previous three matches this season. But the results were still the same – a victory by delivering a goose-egg.

Atavion Mabins had seven saves on goal to help seal the win for the Lions who are now 4-0. Lukas Newton, Alex Payne, and Henry Midkiff posted a goal each.

Coach Kwame Lambert said the team is staring to click on all cylinders.

“I’m happy with the win because it moves us to 4-0 on the season and still on top of the district but I know we’re better then how we played,” Lambert said. “Coach Brandon and I preach every day that defense wins championships so that’s what we focus on the most having a strong defense and that’s what we got through the first four games,” he said.

“My hats off to Patrick County players and coaches because they played us tough and gave us problems throughout the game.”
