Halifax County High School varsity softball enjoyed a hitting spree on the road Tuesday, clobbering Magna Vista, 14-1.

The Comets scored one run in the first inning and added six more in the second. Halifax scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

The Comets added four in the sixth inning.

Halifax finished the night with 14 hits. Mackenzie Lawter belted two homers in her first two at-bats and later added a double. She scored three runs, and went three-for-four.

Anna Clowdis went two-for-two and Kaitlyn Richardson went two-for-three.

Lauryn Chappell, Carol Fears, Madison Gunn, Jeri Tyler, Faith Harlow, Katie Cole and Rose Spainhour had one hit apiece.

Carol Fears and Sidney McLamb, returning to the circle, combined on a two-hitter.
