Jayvee boys pick up wins over Magna Vista, Prince Edward

Aziyah Easley posted 14 points and teammate Kequan Newton added 10 points as the Halifax County High School jayvee basketball team defeated visiting Magna Vista 58-37 Friday.

The teams battled each other well in the first period with each knocking down 15 points for the tie to end the first period.

Halifax started to get some separation in the second period when they posted a 19-9 score. Daki Chandler and Qualik Tucker knocked down seven and six points in the second, in that order, to pace the period.

The Comets owned a 34-24 halftime lead.

Halifax maintained offensive balance throughout the second half and score 12 pints in each of the remaining periods. The Comet’s defense limited the Warriors to 13 second half points.

The Comets recorded a 47-30 win over Prince Edward on Wednesday.
