Jayvee girls close with loss to Magna Vista

SoVaNow.com / May 16, 2019
The Halifax County High School jayvee girls’ soccer team finished its season last Thursday with a 4-0 loss at Magna Vista.

In the last three games prior, the team tied with Patrick County and lost to Franklin County and Bassett.

The season produced a 3-9-2 record, but there were reasons for this mark.

Coach Bertram Cuffley declined to reflect negatively on the season.

“I knew there would be challenges given the inexperience we had, coupled with some key injuries midway,” he said.

Cuffley is thinking ahead for next spring.

“The ladies handled these setbacks well. I look forward now to next season continuing to build on what we have achieved and hoping to get better,” said Cuffley.
