The Halifax County High School jayvee softball team slipped past Dan River, 13-10, in home action on Monday.

Halifax scored four runs in the first, three more in the second, three in the third, and three runs in the fifth inning.

Dan River had one run in the first inning, one more in the second, four in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Halifax collected 11 hits. Trinity Martin, Sarah Watts and Brooke Conner each had three hits. Madison Barnes scored three times and pitched the first two innings.

Barnes had two RBI and Conner three.

Barnes faced 10 hitters, walking one and allowing four hits and two earned runs. Bailey Bowen worked the third, fourth and fifth innings. She fanned one, walked three, and surrendered four hits. She allowed four earned runs.

Watts pitched the sixth and seventh innings. She walked one and allowed four hits. She was touched for four unearned runs.

Kylie Satterfield had two solid bunts.
