Jayvee volleyball takes down GW, 2-0 / October 18, 2021

Halifax County High School jayvee volleyball picked up its eighth win of the season Thursday defeating GW-Danville 25-4 and 25-15.

The Comets are 8-3, with two matches remaining. Coach Kurt Barnes said his girls have performed well as the season narrows to a close.

“We were able to keep our win streak alive by beating GW in two sets, “Barnes said. “I was able to give the girls who have not had the opportunity to play much this year a lot of playing time.”

Some of those less experienced players getting in playing time were Hanna Sutphin with two kills, three digs; Hannah Terry two assists, one dig, and one kill; Jacie Snead one kill, three assist, two digs, five aces; Montana Terry two aces, one assist, and one dig; Alexis Ayers one assist, two digs, seven aces while Ava Williams posted one ace, one assist, and one dig.

“They did an awesome job of communicating, covering the court, passing, setting and hitting, as well as serving,” Barnes commending his younger players. Their hard work has definitely paid off.”

The starting six provided solid support in the match. Abby Duffer posted two aces, one dig, and two kills ; Olivia Seamster one dig; Makayla Powell one ace; Blakely Martin one assist, two aces; Erin Satterfield two kills, one dig; Peyton Irby delivered one kill.
