Jayvees fall 7-0 to Loyalsock / March 23, 2009
The HCHS jayvee baseball team dropped a 7-0 decision to Loyalsock (Pa.) Friday night.

The Lancers got four runs in the third inning, bolstered by two hits and to Comet errors. Loyalsock added three in the seventh, on three hits and a Comet error.

HCHS finished with five errors.

Halifax could not generate any offense, as the Comets mustered just two hits against the Lancers. Dustin Davis and Aaron Puryear had one hit apiece in the loss to Loyalsock.

Halifax coach Dennis Seamster noted, “We just didn’t make the plays when we needed to. The errors were big errors, bases loaded errors...We didn’t hit the ball.”

Seamster noted the Comets need more work on their hitting.

HCHS dropped to 1-1 overall.

A. Puryear took the loss, as he fanned three, walked three, and allowed seven hits. He allowed four runs, three earned. Ryan Puryear had two innings of work, with four strikeouts, no walks, two hits and no earned runs. Nick Rouse fanned one, and allowed three hits and three runs, two earned, in a one-inning stint.
