Comets fail to contain team on a mission ... to break even

Jayvees fall in non-district action / March 28, 2013
The Southern Alamance jayvee baseball team defeated the Comet jayvees, 6-5, in non-district action Tuesday on the road.

Southern barely held off the Comets, scoring two runs in the first, two more in the third and two in the fifth.

Southern finished with ten hits off Comet pitchers.

HCHS finished with six hits, just coming up short with a five-run, fifth inning rally.

Halifax was kept off the board, until a rally that fell short in the fifth inning.

Jake Hughes singled, while Kelonte Gutrich and Dustin Fears doubled, and HCHS got that rally started.

But the rally faded at the end, as the HCHS squad absorbed a one-run loss.
