The Halifax County High School jayvee football team is unbeaten at 8-0, following two wins over GW-Danville and Magna Vista.

Halifax throttled GW 40-14 two weeks ago and followed up with a 61-20 rout of MV.

The Comets are averaging more than 35 points per game. The Comets have good talent, and the team is playing very hard, according to coach Eugene Turbeville.

Halifax had to use backup running backs - Qualik Tucker and Semaj Jeffress - in the win over MV.

Quarterback Dakii Chandler threw for four touchdowns in the win over the Warriors.

The offensive line is producing as well. Turbeville praised the work of ninth grader D.J. Guthrie at center. Turbeville also praised Jonathan Hammock, who played left guard.

Defensively, Halifax got strong play from middle linebacker Damien Wilborn, who had an interception. Defensive end Javeion Gooden had three sacks and a strip fumble return for a 60-yard score against the Warriors.
