The Halifax County High School jayvee boys’ basketball team earned a pair of comfortable wins in district action last week.

Halifax thumped Patrick County, 53-24, Friday at home. The Comets also routed Franklin County, 50-31, Wednesday.

Halifax started slowly Friday, scoring 12 points in the first period and adding four in the second quarter. The Comets found their comfort zone in the third period, scoring 29 points. By the end of the third, Halifax led, 45-20.

Jaden Waller led Halifax in scoring with 12 points. Kameron Roberts had 11.

Earlier, the Comets got a decisive win over Franklin County.

Halifax had a key 15-4 run in the third period.

Waller scored 12 points and Adam Palmer scored six. Nasir Word also had six points.

Halifax had a 14-6 run in the second period, overcoming a fast start by the Eagles.
