Sports Jayvees score 1-0 win over Heritage
SoVaNow.com / March 07, 2013
The Halifax County High School jayvee girls soccer team enjoyed a 1-0 win over Heritage Monday at home in pre-season scrimmage action.Daphne Wilkins had the game-changer, delivering the winning goal for the Comets. Comet coach Mat Robinson said the team had a great start to the spring. “ I was really unsure of what to expect. We didn’t have a lot of field time prior to this game due to all the weather,” said Robinson. “Right out of the gate these girls came together and showed that this is what they wanted and they took control from the first minute and ran with it. “There were many goal opportunities that were missed, but the girls stood there ground and with in the last few minutes of the second half Daphne Wilkins captured the winning goal,” said Robinson. “From Hannah Glass heading up our defense with the talent of Jessica Hudson each of are goalkeepers saw very limited action during this game. “Yes we have a lot of work still to do,” said Robinson. “But I am comfortable in what I saw during this game and looking forward to the rest of the season.” News & Record
