Jeffress falls shy of All-Star bid / July 09, 2018

Jeremy Jeffress, a trendy pick for the National League All-Star team, missed the cut Sunday night despite outlets including, Bleacher Report and Yahoo Sports suggesting he’d win a spot on the team.

The Halifax County High School alumnus and former first-round draft pick is leading Milwaukee in relief appearances and compiling a 1.05 ERA in the first half of the season.

The Brew Crew sat atop the National League Central standings at the All-Star break at 54-36 record, the best mark in the National League.

Jeffress’ 1.05 ERA leads all NL relievers.

This is Jeffress’ ninth year in Major League Baseball, with stints in Milwaukee, Kansas City, Texas and Toronto. His best seasons have come with the Brewers, who drafted him out of high school with the 16th pick in the 2006 amateur draft. He returned to Milwaukee after being traded from Texas in 2017.

Jeffress is signed with Milwaukee through 2020.
