Jeffress picks up win

Former Comet Jeremy Jeffress picked up the win in Chicago’s 8-7 win over Pittsburgh in 11 innings Tuesday. Jeffress entering the game in the tenth inning with game tied at 7-7. His first pitch resulted in Erik Gonzalez hitting into a double play to end the inning.

Chicago scored at the top of the 11th inning and Jeffress closed the game, allowing no runs, with one walk and two K’s in the 1.2 innings played.

After 15 innings played over 13 games, Jeffress is 3-1 on the season sporting a 1.20 ERA, 10 strikeouts, four saves, and a 0.80 WHIP.

Chicago played Pittsburg again Tuesday night and was expected to finish the three-game series today.
