Knott , Oxendine take top JRD honors / November 07, 2018

The Bluestone varsity volleyball program had a great season and several players received James River District individual honors for a successful year.

Ashlyn Knott was named 2018 JRD Volleyball Player of the Year. Knott had 344 kills for a 38 percent kill rate, 55 blocks, 237 digs, 68 aces and 14 assists in 19 regular season matches.

Emma Newcomb joined Knott on the first team. Newcomb had 218 kills, six blocks, 217 digs, 90 aces, and dished out 315 assists.

Erin Strider, the only senior on the team, made the second team. Strider’s season stats were 75 kills, 10 blocks, led in digs with 252, and served up 52 aces.

Coach Darlynn Oxendine was selected as the JRD 2018 Volleyball Coach of the Year by her peers for leading her team to a 12-4 conference record, 15-4 overall record.

Bluestone was 9-0 at home during the regular season and had a road record of 6-4.
