Lady Barons go 0-2 as play draws to close / February 12, 2020

The Bluestone High School varsity girls basketball team lost two James River District games over the past week.

The losses — both on the road — saw the girls drop to 4-17 overall, 4-11 in the James River District.

On Monday night the girls traveled to Nottoway High School to take on the Lady Cougars and fell in that game, 47-31. On Feb. 4, the team lost to Prince Edward in Farmville, 40-16.

Even with the below .500 rating, the girls were ranked No. 10 in Region 2A going into Monday night’s game, with the top 12 teams advancing to region tourney action.

The varsity girls were scheduled to hold Senior Night last night (Tuesday), hosting JRD opponent Goochland in their final game of the regular season.

Jayvee girls beat Nottoway and PE

The jayvee girls basketball team extended their most recent win streak to four, besting Nottoway 26-14 and Prince Edward 50-45 in double overtime.

The most recent wins have the girls in third place in the JRD with a record of 13-4, 11-4. The girls closed out their season with Goochland at Bluestone on Tuesday night.
