The Bluestone varsity volleyball team battled Central of Lunenburg to a five-game match victory in Skipwith last Wednesday.

The girls had their hands full all night with the Lady Chargers, who jumped out to an early lead by taking the first game, 25-21.

Bluestone bounced back in the second game, winning 25-17.

The third set belonged to Lunenburg as the Lady Chargers prevailed 25-22, leaving the visitors one game shy of the match win.

With their backs against the wall, the Lady Barons delivered their strongest set of the night, thumping Central 25-9 in the fourth game to tie the match 2-2.

The girls eked out a 15-13 win in the fifth game, sending Lunenburg away with the match loss.

Prior to the varsity match, the jayvee Lady Barons swept Central in two games, 25-13 and 25-7.

The girls are slated to resume James River District competition today when they take on Buckingham.
