Lady Comets enjoy encouraging moments in loss to Patrick Henry

SoVaNow.com / May 11, 2009
The HCHS girls’ varsity soccer team enjoyed some encouraging moments Thursday night, but it was not enough in a district loss to Patrick Henry.

PH emerged with a 6-0 victory. Still, HCHS had some positives.

“The girls played hard. We actually had the first couple of shots on goal,” said Comet coach Sid Young. “I was really pleased with the way the girls’ played. There was one goal we questioned, because the guy was not in position to make the call. He gave them a goal early in the game,” said Young.

Young noted HCHS had some strong shots on goal.

Sarah Rosche took the first shot of the game, and barely missed the goal on a long attempt.

The game was called 15 minutes early because of lightning.

HCHS fell to 8-6 overall, with a 2-6 record in the district.

Halifax has GW here Tuesday and the Comets go to Franklin County Wednesday for a makeup game. That ends the district regular season.
