Lady Comets fall to Fuqua 6-2 in softball / May 10, 2018
Fuqua School of Farmville downed the Halifax County High School varsity softball team, 6-2, on Monday night in South Boston.

Halifax had eight hits, but struggled to close on the offensive side. Raegan Ridgeway went the distance for Halifax. She struck out five batters and allowed eight hits and a pair of walks.

Katie Cole and Sydney Wilborn had two hits apiece. Dee Dee Jeffress, Lauryn Chappell, Kaitlyn Richardson and Raegan Ridgeway also had one base hit.

Fuquay took a 3-0 lead early, on three hits and a walk.

Halifax got a run in its half of the second. Karina Velazquez reached on an error and scampered home on a RBI hit by Wilborn.

Fuqua then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 6-1 lead, sparked by two doubles.

Richardson had an RBI in the top of the seventh, but Halifax could get no closer.
