Lady Comets fall to GW in soccer / April 26, 2010
The Halifax County High School Comet girls’ varsity soccer team lost 3-0 to GW at Danville Friday night in district action.

The Comets fell to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the Western Valley District Comet coach Sid Young said, “At times we also plated well. We also had some letdowns, too.”

GW is probably not as strong as the Eagles have been in the past, but the coaching staff is doing a good job with the current team, in Young’s opinion.

Halifax had some legitimate scoring opportunities, but could not capitalize.

Nia Brown, as usual, performed well at keeper, recording about 18 saves.

Her fine effort helped keep Halifax competitive.

GW fashioned a sweep in girls’ soccer Friday night, as the jayvees lost 4-0.
