The Halifax County High School varsity girls’ soccer team improved to 7-7 Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Martinsville at home.

Halifax got goals from Madelyn Haskett with about four minutes elapsed.

Summer Lacks scored at the 23-minute mark into the second half.

Goal keeper Amanda Coleman had a standout performance, with 10 saves.

At this point, Comet coach Sid Young believes the squad can land a no. 3 seed in the regular season finish for the Piedmont District.

Regional seeding is uncertain at this point.

Young said, “it was Senior night, and the girls played extremely well.”

Halifax soccer honored 11 seniors. Young said this has been a very good class, with a strong mark on the recent history of the program.

The 11 seniors honored are Carey Cole, Coleman, Georgia Daniels, Erin Glass, Haskett, Cali and Cori Neal, Keeley Nelson, Sydney Wallace, Jessica Watts and Mindy Williamson.
