Lady Lions finish as soccer tournament runner-ups / May 01, 2017
Halifax County Middle School girls soccer finished as the runner-ups in the Junior Piedmont Athletic Conference.

Halifax lost to Ben Franklin Middle School, 8-0, on Saturday.

The Lion girls had a “great season full of wonderful experiences,” according to coach Ivannia Chinchilla.

Halifax played 12 games, with a final record of 7-4-1. Halifax surrendered 17 goals and scored 43. The coaching staff is proud of the team’s accomplishments.

In earlier tournament action, Halifax edged Laurel Park, 5-4, in overtime semifinals action. Carrie Midkiff scored two goals and Morgan Crenshaw and Hannah Bush also scored. Sarah Lacks scored in the OT period.

“Both teams were giving it all. Nice attacking moves and defenses were strong. Suddenly, our right forward (Lacks, minute 2:41) dribbled the ball to the corner kick area, turned fast and sent a perfect angled shot from about 20 yards that went inside the Laurel Park goal,” said Chinchilla.
