Lady Lions have tough time with Park View

The Halifax County Middle School Volleyball team had a tough loss against Park View Thursday.

Halifax lost three of five sets. HC won set one, 25-17, lost set two, 25-20, won the third set, 25-5, and then dropped the final two, 25-21 and 15-7.

Highlights

First set: Leigh-Anne McCormick had three good serves. Olivia Noblin had five good serves and five assists. Katie Cole had ten good serves. Calli Neal had two assists. Chinaiya Owen had three good serves. Aliyah Chandler and Sierra Nunn had two kills each. Carol Fears had two good serves.

Second set: McCormick had two good serves. Noblin had one good serve and six assists. Savanna Cabaniss had one kill. Katie Cole had five good serves. Brittany Clark had two kills. Neal had three good serves and seven assists. Chandler had five good serves and five kills. Sierra Nunn had four kills. Fears had two good serves.

Third set: McCormick had two good serves. Noblin had one good serve and one assist. Cabaniss had nine good serves and one ace. Neal had three good serves, one ace, and four assists. Chandler had five kills. Sierra Nunn had one kill. Fears had seven good serves and one ace.

Fourth set: Noblin had one good serve and five assists. Cabaniss had five good serve and one ace. Cole had six good serves and one ace. Neal had four good serves and two assists. Nunn had two kills. Fears had three good serves.

Fifth set: McCormick had one good serve. Noblin had three good serves and five assists. Cabaniss had one kill. Cole had two good serves and one kill. Neal had five assists.

Aliyah Chandler and Sierra Nunn had two kills each.

“Olivia proved herself as a leader of the team with her communication skills and determination on the court. Our volleyball players had excellent serves during all five games. Katie led the team with a total of 23 good serves. Savanna and Carol had a total of 14 good serves each,” coach Lori Meadows, said.

For our first match of the season, the girls played very well and did an excellent job with serving. We had only 11 bad serves out of a total of 99 serves.

For future games, we will need to continue practicing communication and attacking skills,” she said.
