SoVaNow.com / January 17, 2013
Yes, the HCMS girls really did defeat Westwood, 53-3, in girls’ basketball action Monday on the road.

The Lions got all the offense they needed in the first period, leading 15-0 at the end of the first period. It was 25-0, HCMS, at halftime. Malasia Boyd led the Lions with 17 points and Brittany Clark added 13. Nine Lions scored, as HCMS improved to 9-1.

“We’re playing pretty good. We’re playing good defense,” coach James Smith said.

HCMS has a tough game coming up next Thursday against Russell, for first place in the conference.

HCMS is also playing well offensively, coming down the stretch. “It took us a while to get there, but we’re shooting the ball pretty good,” said Smith.
