The Halifax County Middle School softball team has earned the championship from the Powhatan tournament over the weekend at Powhatan Middle School.

Halifax took the title game with a 14-11 victory Saturday over Powhatan Middle.

Halifax constructed a 10-run rally with 10 consecutive hits in the third inning. Lynia Reed, Shayma Hankins and Arissa Conner slammed home runs and the Lions capped a 4-1 run in the tournament.

Halifax had lost to Powhatan 7-0 earlier Saturday.

The Lions had a battle with Powhatan in the tournament finale.

Halifax scored three runs in the first inning, sparked by three hits and an error. Halifax had the big ten-run rally in the third and added one in the fourth.

Halifax had strong production at the top of the lineup in the run to the title game. The top four batters (Kamyra Woody-Giggetts, Madi Watkins, Reed and Hankins) scored nine runs).

Halifax had 15 hits, including three from Hankins, who singled, tripled and homered.

Halifax 10, Powhatan 6

Woody-Giggetts led the way with four hits. She homered and slammed a triple. Hankins had three hits, including a homer and a double. Jadyn Harlow added a double.

Halifax 9 Bluestone 5

The hot-hitting Lions had 14 hits, as Reed smacked two. Woody-Jiggetts, Conner and Terry added two hits each.

Powhatan 7, Halifax 0

Halifax had only two hits in this offensive brownout. Reed and Harlow had two singles in this shutout loss.

Halifax 9, 
Prince George 2

The Lions got three hits from Woody-Giggetts, including a double. Strickland belted two hits and Watkins had a triple in this lopsided win for the Lions.
