Lady Lions shut down Bonner
SoVaNow.com / November 19, 2012The Halifax County Middle School girls’ basketball team all but shut down Bonner Thursday, 39-7
HCMS scored 18 points in the first period, and led 18-6 at halftime.
Bonner added one free throw in the second half.
Eight Lions scored.
HCHS played stout defense in the win.
The HCMS girls basketball team has familiar systems to work with, as James Smith returns to the coaching duties for the Lions.
“I’ve got nine players from last year. I’ve got the same system we did last year, and they already know it,” said Smith.
Offensively, the Lions shot the ball really well from the floor in the opener. Smith said the Lion girls need to work on their free throws and passing. HCMS had too many turnovers and shot 21 percent from the foul line. “That’s not going to work against a real good team,” Smith said.
