Lady Lions win district softball tourney title

SoVaNow.com / May 01, 2017
Madison Barnes worked seven innings and limited Ben Franklin to three hits in 4-2 Junior Piedmont District softball tournament championship game Friday at Halifax County Middle School.

Barnes fanned two, walked one and had a strong outing with the title on the line. BF scored once in the fourth and one more run in the sixth.

Halifax collected 11 hits in the title game win. Trinity Martin belted an RBI single and Barnes had a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Shamya Hankins blasted a solo homer in the third, and the Lions had more offense in the sixth.

Earlier, Halifax pounded Patrick County, 20-0, on Thursday.

Barnes and Madelyn Davis did an excellent job on the mound, and the Lions shredded the visitors in a torrid hitting display.
