Legion Post 8 improves to 6-5 with narrow win over Patrick / July 15, 2019
The American Legion Post 8 Junior Legion baseball team has a 6-5 record, following a narrow 3-2 win over Patrick County Wednesday.

Jackson Newton led Post 8 with three hits. Anthony Conner and Nathan Comer delivered two hits. Kamron Turbeville contributed one.

Evan Clark picked up the win, working seven innings. He allowed four hits and two runs. Clark struck out 11 and walking two.

Post 8 scored in the top of the fourth on a suicide squeeze executed by Dillon Fisher. That plated Jackson Newton.

Patrick County answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Three straight hits set the sate for two runs.

The game remained 2-1, with PC leading, until the seventh.

With two outs and no one on base, Anthony Conner and Nathan Comer slapped back to back singles. That late offensive burst set the stage for Jackson Newton’s game-winning two-RBI double.

Clark sealed the game by striking out the Patrick side in the bottom of the seventh.
