The Halifax County Middle School boys fell to Bonner at home Monday, 44-35.

Halifax fell to 7-6. Both Lions teams were at home against Martinsville last night. The Lions finish on the road against Patrick County tonight.

From there, both teams move on to the Junior Piedmont District tournament next week.

The Lion boys finished with two players in double figures, led by Zach Carter with 12 and Kameron Roberrs with ten.

Nijay Ross had six.

Bonner had three players in double figures, led by Shyheim Walington with 11.

Halifax was competitive in the first period, trailing 7-6. The teams were deadlocked at halftime, at 17 apiece, but then the Lions rolled out to a 10-4 advantage in the third.

But the final period proved Halifax’s undoing. Bonner went on a 23-8 run to nail down the win.

Bonner connected on ten two-point baskets and three free throws in the final six-minute stretch. Halifax had just two players scoring in the final period, as Roberts and Carter both had four points apiece.
