Lion football routs Martinsville / September 21, 2017
The Halifax County Middle School football team routed Martinsville on the road Thursday.

Halifax won easily, 58-6. Saeed Buster led the charge, scoring touchdowns of 60, 40 and 30 yards.

Montre’l Claiborne added scores on a pair of 40-yard runs.

Mikyler Smalls scored on a 10-yard run in the first half.

The passing attack clicked, as Zach Carter (10 yards) and Wyatt Nelson (about 30) had touchdown receptions.

“Overall, the team played well. It seems we are right on track,” said coach LeVar Medley.

Offensively, Halifax missed a few assignments. Defensively, Halifax flew to the ball and tackled very well, Medley said.

Halifax improved to 2-1.

The Lions play at Patrick County tonight.
