Lion girls shut down Patrick County

The Halifax County Middle School girls soccer team rolled to a 7-0 shutout over Patrick County Middle Wednesday night.

In the first half, Chesney Richardson had one shot on goal. Pan Pan Yang had six shots on goal, scoring two goals. Peyton Davis had six shots on goal, scoring one goal. Leah Wright had nine shots on goal, scoring two goals.

Pan Pan Yang took the free kick for the team. Peyton Davis took a corner kick for the team. Halifax went into halftime with the score 5-0. In the second half, Peyton Davis took five shots on goal, scoring one goal. Pan Pan Yang took three shots on goal, scoring one goal. Leah Wright took four shots on goal. Chesney Richardson took one shot on goal.

Pan Pan Yang took the free kick for the team again. Peyton Davis and Pan Pan Yang took a corner kick for the team in the second half. McKayla Meadows, goalie, made two saves during the second half.

The Halifax County Middle School girls soccer team enjoyed a 3-0 win over Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School Thursday night.

Halifax missed three starting players, Destini Brooks, Rena Asare, and Chesney Richardson, due to the Music Showcase Concert at the HCHS. The team practiced on Tuesday to prepare for the absence of these players, and their hard work at practice paid off. Leah Wright, Pan Pan Yang, and Peyton Davis started as strikers. Cheyane Davis, Cheyenne Francisco, and MaKayla Powell started as midfielders. Ashley Pedro, Aidan O’Kelly, Sydney Fisher, and Lauren Cole started on defense. McKayla Meadows was the goalie. Olivia Burton subbed for offense. Maelyn Fraser Freshour rotated into defense. Livey Rogers and Ava Franklin were substitutes for the game.

During the first half of the game, Peyton Davis had six shots on goal, scoring one goal. Leah Wright had two shots on goal. Pan Pan Yang had two shots on goal. Pan Pan Yang showed excellent footwork throughout the game. MaKayla Powell had two shots on goal. Peyton Davis took one corner kick and Pan Pan Yang took two corner kicks for the team. McKayla Meadows, goalie, had one save during the first half.

In the second half, Peyton Davis had two shots on goal. Leah Wright had three shots on goal. Pan Pan Yang had three shots on goal, scoring one goal. MaKayla Powell had two shots on goal, and she scored her first ever goal! Peyton Davis, Leah Wright, and Pan Pan Yang all took a corner kick in the second half. Pan Pan Yang took the free kick for the team. McKayla Meadows had one save as goalie during the second half.

Cheyane Davis made some excellent stops and passes during the game as center midfield. All defensive players worked together to stop the ball and get the ball to the offense.
