The Halifax County Middle School boys basketball team cruised past Fieldale-Collinsville, 43-22, Monday at home.

The Lions now have a .500 mark heading into the holiday break.

Nijay Ross led Halifax with 12 points, while Zach Carter had eight. Javeon Morris and Wyatt Nelson had six apiece and Kameron Roberts contributed four.

Halifax had a strong early defensive effort, leading 10-2 at the end of the first period. The Lions held a 19-14 advantage at halftime.

Halifax had a torrid run in the third period and held a 30-19 edge at the end of the quarter.
