The Halifax County Middle School boys basketball team defeated Laurel Park, 50-38, on Thursday in South Boston.

The Lion boys had a balanced scoring effort after halftime.

Kayna Caddle led the Lions with 16.

KeyQuan Newton scored 11, while John Louden added 10. KaNyle Canada scored six.

TyQuan Palmer and Atavion Mabins recorded five points.

Four Lions scored in the first period, while Caddle had seven points by himself to spark HCMS in the second quarter.

Halifax scored 16 points in the third period. The Lions added 13 points in the final period.

Laurel Park got out to a slow start, but added as trey and several baskets in the second quarter. LP had a respectable third period and finished with balanced scoring in the final quarter.
