The Halifax County Middle School football team defeated Bluestone 41-24 Thursday at home.

The Lions offense led the game with six touchdowns. Defensive play was also good with the Lions keeping Bluestone‘s pass and ground game pretty much in check over the course of the game.

Montavious Marrero had two rushing touchdowns. Anthony Wilborn punched a TD in on a run; he also had a kick return for a touchdown.

Dametrius Brooks and Amauryian Harris posted a rushing TD each. Special teams had a solid game with the Lion’s kicker, Jayden Leigh making five extra-point attempts.

Lions’ coach Kenneth Day said he was happy for getting the win.

Halifax’s scheduled Sept. 8 road game versus Martinsville has been canceled. The Lions take to the field again on Sept. 15 when they host Fieldale-Collinsville. Game time is 5 p.m.
