Lions effort stout against Park View

The Halifax County Middle School golf team remained unbeaten with a stout effort against Park View Monday at Greens Folly.

HCMS carded a team score of 187, easily defeating Park View, which had a 228.

For the Lions, Kassidy Irby scored a 40 to lead the way, while Lance Chappell had a 47. Erin Glass had a 46, and Cori Neal had a 54.

Park View was led by Sherwood Baskerville with a 47.

The other, non-counted scores for the Lions included a 57 from Steven Comer, a 56 from Willoughby Gasperini, a 51 from Ashley Day, a 58 from Jacob Wenzel, a 57 from Jacob Day and a 52 from Brayden Moore.

“They played really well, especially the girls. They’ve really stepped it up this year, shooting in the 40s and low 50s,” assistant coach Susanne Stevens, said.

HCMS has a conference tournament Sept. 30 at 10 am at Greens Folly.
