Halifax County Middle School volleyball, playing as the top seed, finished its season at 8-2 after falling to no. 2 seed Laurel Park in the Junior Piedmont District volleyball tournament championship game in South Boston Thursday.

The teams split the first two sets. In the title set the competition was fierce with the win coming down to the wire.

After Halifax moved to pull back out front late in the game, Laurel Park battled back and was able to regain the lead and eventually secure the win.

The Lions finished the regular season at 7-1.
