Lions fall to Martinsville, Lady Lions pick up win / December 07, 2017
The Halifax County Middle School boys basketball team lost a tough one to Martinsville Middle Monday night, 37-34.

Playing on the road, the Lions had good balanced scoring, with J. Morris leading the way with 10 points.

K. Roberts had eight.

The game went into OT, and the Martinsville club seized decisive momentum there. HCMS had only two field goals, and Martinsville won the extra session 7-4 to slip by with the win.

The Lions’ best period came in the first quarter, when Roberts scored six points.

The Halifax County Middle School girls basketball team routed Martinsville Monday, 45-4. Halifax rolled to a 21-2 lead in the first period and did not have a worry afterwards.

Saviana Bailey had 12 points and Shamya Hankins added five. Talitha Marable had nine.

Kanya Hairston had Martinsville’s second basket of the night in the second period.
