Lions pick up sweep over Wyatt
SoVaNow.com / April 22, 2013The Halifax County Middle School baseball team took a doubleheader from Wyatt Wednesday, 5-3 and 18-6.
Halifax jumped all over Wyatt in the 18-6 win, game two. Pitchers Clay Lloyd, Will Scheier and Alex Lowery combined on a three-hitter, while fanning four.
The key inning was the second, when Halifax belted out 14 runs on 10 hits.
Tyler Duffer went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Matt Ratliff went two-for-two with two RBI and a run scored. Dawson Watts went two-for-two with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Lowery went two-for-two with three runs scored and an RBI.
Earlier, Halifax Middle School manufactured a 5-3 win.
The scoring surge came in the third, as Halifax scored four runs on four hits. Brayden Moore and Scheier combined on a three-hitter for the win, with Moore fanning three and Scheier one.
Tyler Duffer delivered a key, two-run single in the third. Andrew Abbott had a RBI double to spark the comeback third.
Lloyd added an RBI single in the fourth.
