Lions post lopsided win in track meet

The Halifax County Middle School boys and girls’ track teams posted lopsided wins in meet action against Bluestone and Amelia April 24.

The boys had 100 points in the meet win over their conference rivals. The girls collected 73 points.

Ty Cole of the boys’ team won the shot put with a throw of 37-9. Otis Slayton won the high jump with a leap of 5-6. Slayton also won the high jump with an effort of 17-6. Slayton won the hurdles in 15.43.

The 4x200 relay team also won its event in 1:42.

Tyree Dunkley won the 1600 meter run in 5:56. Ty Cole won the 100 meters in 11.78. Dashon Louden won the 400-meter dash in 54.91. The 4x100 relay team also emerged with a win in 49.34.

Loudon won the 800-meter dash in 2:30. The Lion 4x400 relay team also won in 4:23.

The top finishers for the Lion girls included Deyanna Rauls in the discus (58-3) and Nicole Gillard in the long jump (13-6.50).

Ayanna Ballou won the hurdles in 17.97. Brittany Clark won the 1600 meters in 6:55.

Ballou won the 800-meter dash in 2:51.

The Lions also won the 4x200 and 4x100 meter relays in 2:02 and 57.12, respectively.
