Lions rally over Powhatan / November 22, 2017
The Halifax County Middle School boys basketball team rallied for a 43-41 win over Powhatan in its home opener Monday night.

Zack Carter led the Lions with 13 points and coach Nelson Baskervill’s squad showed resilience down the stretch.

Halifax demonstrated the ability to overcome a sluggish start and rally with a stronger second half, always a positive in basketball.

Baskervill said the Lions showed their inexperience in the first half, but did a better job of establishing better teamwork in the second half.

Halifax trailed by 13 early, but cut the lead to 25-20 at halftime. Halifax hit clutch 3s and free throws down the stretch.
