Lions slip past Ben Franklin 28-26 / January 25, 2018
The Halifax County Middle School boys basketball team slipped by Ben Franklin Middle, 28-26, in Piedmont Junior District action Monday in Rocky Mount.

Javeon Morris scored eight points and Nijay Ross had seven. Wyatt Nelson and Zach Carter had four apiece in the win.

Halifax struggled early, as the Lions trailed 9-4 at the end of the first quarter and 13-9 at the half.

Halifax went on a key 10-5 scoring run in the third period to regain the lead, 19-18, heading into the final quarter.

Halifax had balanced offense and the Lions also took advantage of the foul line, sinking ten of 22 from the charity stripe.

Halifax connected on three of nine from the foul line in the final period.

Franklin struggled on offense in the second half. Franklin only hit four baskets, including one 3-pointer in the third period and one in the final period.

Halifax plays at Westwood tonight in Danville.
