The Martinsville jayvee girls basketball team defeated Halifax County High School Friday, 42-29.

Playing in Martinsville, the Lady Bulldogs enjoyed balanced scoring, and solid defense. Martinsville also had improvements most of the night on offense. Martinsville scored six points in the first quarter, 11 in the second, ten in the third, and 15 in the final stanza.

F. Moyer led Martinsville with 17 points.

Halifax had only one player in double figures. Vinique Winn scored 11, while Jamiyah Chaney had eight.

Halifax really struggled in the second quarter, scoring just two points on a lone Winn basket. The Comets reached the 10-point mark twice, in the first and third periods, but could not keep pace with the Lady Bulldogs.
