South Boston News
Moore / June 18, 2018
Halifax County High School’s Brayden Moore made second team all-state in the outfield for the 2018 Class 5 all-state baseball squad.

Moore proved to be a very reliable contributor on both offense and defense as the Comets advanced to the Class 5 state quarterfinals. Halifax lost to Freedom in its season finale.

Moore was the lone Comet selected all-state.

Prince George senior shortstop Tevin Tucker is named the Class 5 player of the year and Prince George head coach Micky Roberts selected the Class 5 Coach of the Year after leading the Royals to the state title with a 8-0 win over Potomac Senior in the finals.

Fourteen individuals are selected to the all-state squad, which includes -- three pitchers, one catcher, four infielders by position, four outfielders, one DH and one utility player.

Only first-team all-region selections are eligible for selection to the All-State team.

Each All-State selection committee is composed of eight baseball coaches, two from each region.
