Newcomb, Knott add to their remarkable seasons / November 13, 2019
The Bluestone volleyball team enjoyed a storied 2019 season.

Not only did the team achieve the best finish in school history, several players added to their place in the Bluestone volleyball record books. 2019 James River District Player of the Year Emma Newcomb, a sophomore, and senior Ashlyn Knott, a 2019 JRD All-District first team honoree, each set new marks this season.

Newcomb set records for most aces (141), best ace percentage (30 percent) and most digs (341). Newcomb also holds the record for most assists, 336, established in the 2018-2019 season.

Knott, who was the JRD Player of the Year last season, broke records for best receive percentage (81 percent), best dig percentage (88 percent), and best kill percentage (38.7 percent).

Knott also owns the records for most serves received (191, in the 2018-2019 season), most kills (368, 2018-2019) and most blocks (75, 2017-2018).

Hite Jones, a senior setter for the Lady Barons, still maintains the best assist percentage — 36 percent set, in the 2018-2019 season.

Individual stat leaders for the varsity Lady Barons in 2019 were: Emma Newcomb (So.) Aces – 141, Serving Efficiency – 127, Serving Ace % - .30 percent, Most Digs - 341, Most Sets - 300, and Most Attacks – 290; Ashlyn Knott (Sr.) Serve Rate % - .81 percent, Dig % - .88 percent, and Attack Percent - .387 percent; Trista Newcomb (So.) Most Serves Received - 161; Hite Jones (Sr.) Set % - .35 percent; Kaylin Seamans (So.) Blocks – 26.
